I bought it all separately years ago and installed it. If it was drivable I'd let you know.

Gees Tom, that was so long ago. The complete dash and steering was apart and I don't remember anything unusual.

I just did the bushings on mine. After some of the stories I had heard I just bit the bullet and took the steering column tube out and replaced the bushings on the bench - easy on the TR4.

I just completed this 2 weeks ago quite easy
just remember to use a 3/4 PVC pipe to remove/ drive the old bushings out
and be sure to lube the new ones in side and out (had a slight squeak when turning )
also when replacing the felt that goes over and under the outer column under the dash that the new will be uncompressed
found that two small vise grips to re compress and insert the bolts will make life much easier

at the time I took all of the linkage to the rubber joint apart and renewed to insure that it would work in the event of collision
enjoy

I did it using Art Lipp's steering column bushings which are just driven in on top of the old bushings. No need to remove the old ones. I think they cost $20-25 and make a PITA job very simple. Which ever way you go, you'll probably also have to replace the rubber coupling that goes between the upper & lower columns. They're usually cracked like mine was.

So based on this it sounds like Art's approach is easier, yes?

It's very simple as there's no need to remove the old bushings. It doesn't address the felt mounting but there's a guy in 6-Pack who just did the felt repair using felt padding he picked up locally.

Bob-

Do you know if Art is still actively selling? His website seems to be down. Nice guy, I picked up some rack&pinion plans from him a while ago.

Evidently Art and his family have a Karting business too. He told me he decided to drop the Triumph site altogether but he is still selling everything he did before if anyone wants something. You can call him at (716) 648-0708 or email lipp04@yahooDOTcom
