new project car 67 mgb

Well I have started another one. This one is a 67 that was originally white with a black interior. I will retain the white but go with a red leather interior with white piping. Because of North Carolina title requirements I had to make it appear to be a drivable car and insure and tag it to get a title. Thats why the floors are already done and the front fenders are in primer. The DMV inspection is now done so here we go. Bsck apart it goes then onto the rotisserie. I have a early O/D reworked by Quantum Mechanics to go in it... I will post the story behind that after I pick it up at Carlisle import show in May. The only rust repair to make now is the doglegs. As you will see in the pics they are original and just starting to blister thru the paint. This is a great starter point 67! I will probably not blast thru this one in record time. I have house projects to do and once they are done hang on! I wish Tony was here to see this one. I will surely miss his input and comments. Bob

Excellent!

Some day Bob's going to see my MGB show up in the mail. I'll even include a self-addresses stamped box so he can ship it back when it's done.

Drew, The misses is visiting your fine state today. The weather isn't quite up to her liking.
Can you do something about that?

Don, I wish I could. Supposed to be better this week. Been bitter cold and snowing for the last couple weeks. Heck, I've had the top up on the MG almost since I bought it!

So when is this one going to ready? Saturday? You need to bring it to the Great Scot Car show.

Bill, It will take a bit longer than that! I may miss the SBMOC meeting since the Uwharrie meet is the same day. If we make the Great Scot we will probably bring the LE. Bob

Some PO hogged out the dash and put a S-W amp gauge in there? OOoof.

Great car to bring back from the precipice!

I do have a unmolested dash to replace this one. Its a easy fix but when you have a good one why not use it! Bob

Re: new project car 67 mgb

Well, I am back in gear! I have been tinkering on the 67 and making a bit of progress. When I get back from the MG trip to Canada (Bronte show) the car will get painted. Here are a few more shots up to date. Bob

Re: new project car 67 mgb

Very nice work, Bob. I need to send you my new B some day. It could do the tour, drop the engine at Hap's on the way out, have you work your stuff, then back by Hap for engine install and tuneup before heading back here.

Either that, or just swing up after you visit Mickey.

and it sure is not overnight.)

Re: new project car 67 mgb

I got to spend a few more days tinkering on the B. Here are the results. There was a question as to what primer I was using. Its a Sherwin Williams product(#415?)The paint is a nice soft white and the clear is very clear. I have used some clears that do not have this great look. The clear was sanded with 1000,1500 then 2000 before the buffer hit it. Total time behind the buffer was 2.5 hours. I use Farecla buffing supplies. The residue washes off with a water hose and is a much easier cleanup than the 3M I used to use. More parts are on the way and the chrome wires are here and the Dunlop tires arrived yeaserday. More bits need to go to the powder coater soon. Overdrive is already rebuilt by Quantum. More updates next week. Bob
