This looks like a really interesting project car. Nice style but obviously a bit of work.

No one replied to my question "Renown?" but that's my guess since it says "2000" in the ad. A Mayflower is 998cc or something.

I know the seller, but have never meet him in person. He has just finish an exhausting restoration on a 47 TR. Fantastic car. Give him a call, he has been more than helpful with my restoration on my 49 TR. It would have a Standard Vanguard 2 liter motor. Not too hard to get parts. https://www.trocltd.com/ Just shipping would be expensive.

PS It is a Renown or "Razoredge"

Not at all hard to get parts, the head is about the only difference isn't it? As I recall from my Vanguard, the head was like the TR2. I was thinking of putting a TR2 intake manifold on it and give it some 'umph!

Sounds like a plan! How about putting a supercharger on it at the same time! Now you would have a stealth Renown that could easily be returned to stock!!!!!!! They are very similar to the TR. The biggest problem would be the wood!!!

Yes, it would be a Renown or 2000. Mayflowers actually were similar size, but only two doors and much, much shorter. (For those who remember such, a good analogy is AMC Hornet to AMC Gremlin...and to some, the question of style is parallel!)

Renowns used the Vanguard 2088cc engine, which was the basis for the TR engine. Mayflowers, though, used a 1247cc side-valve engine of essentially prewar Standard derivation.

Too bad this isn't one of the 189 Renown Limousines; those are truly rare and incredibly elegant!

Speaking of which, there's a very dedicated Triumph Mayflower collector in California who recently completed a "stretch" Mayflower Limo. It is pretty cool! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cool.gif

I'll be picking up the 2 Mark VIII in 2 weeks. I pm you when I get them and fill you in on the details (spares?).
