The steel plates on my new rubber engine mounts (64 BJ8) when viewed from the side (not on the engine yet)have the steel plate on the engine side is approx. 1/8" higher than the steel plate on the frame mount side. This causes a pie shaped gap bewtween the top rubber block and the main block when the entire mount is assembled but no weight on the mounts yet. The book says that there should be a small gap between the top rubber block and the main rubber block that is adjusted by shims. Will the weight of the engine cause the two plates to align and enable me to adjust the gap? Getting ready to install engine in the car and not sure this is correct. Thanks and have a good day!
