GT6 Engine Mount "Spacers" - What's the Purpose?
Gents,
What is the purpose of the "distance spacers" between the frame mounting point (turret) and engine mounts on the GT6? I don't understand why the engine need be forced 1/4" to 5/16" forward. All it does is put stress on the gearbox mounts (mine are stressed forward). Anyone have the technical answer? The spacers are shown in various plates , i.e., Canley, Anglo, etc, but are NLA. Victoria British doesn't show them at all. Is there any danger in removing them and mounting the engine direct to its intended mounting points? The only issue I forsee is the gear shift lever, when moved back by 1/4 - 5/16", bumping up against the gearbox cover cutout (may require some modification of the trailing edge of the cutout?)
Regards,
Jeff
