TR6 Mounting a fire extinguisher in a TR6

Where did you mount you fire extinguisher? Looking for options and ideas.

If you are going to mount a fire extinguisher inside your car, make sure it can't come loose in an accident an injure someone. I would suggest along the passenger floor. Be certain to use a metal mounting bracket. Your best bet would be to buy the whole set up from a place like Racers Wholesale. The SCCA requires in car extinguishers for Showroom Stock, Touring and Improved Touring classes. Their only stipulations are type, size, and metal mounting brackets. There was a fella from up here in Mass who crashed a T1 Corvette at Pocono a few years back. The extinguisher came loose in a side impact and hit his head, killing him instantly. I cringe every time I see one of those kids riding around with an extinguisher mounted to the plastic A pillar trim in a ricer car.

Mine is attached to the floor just behind the driver's seat. Agree with tr8todd regarding metal strapping. I am a tech inspector for several racing organizations, and plastic strapping is simply not acceptable in any car for the reason Todd mentions.

I have mine mounted on my roll bar but ive seen them mounted behind the seat

I have a small Halon 1211 extinguisher mounted upright in the passenger side footwell kickpanel - just forward of the door. Has steel bracket holding it in place.

I have mine mounted behind the passenger seat where I can reach it quickly. Used it twice... on other peoples cars. Neither of which were British. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Mine is in the trunk! :0 But it comes with a flat side mount, so it doesnt roll around even though I dont have it bolted in.

He needs nothing of the sort these days! I'll have you know that the infamous "Crypty" has changed it's evil ways and no longer flames after 10 mile drives.
