Have a 79 B- it has excessive brake pedal travel. Brake's work fine (all new all around-no air in system) Is there a way to check brake servo?

Are the rear brakes properly adjusted?

I ask this particular question because I very recently found that the previous owners of my '76 B were using the hand brake adjustment nut to adjust the rear breaks, and subsequently the cable for my hand brake broke. Ever since then I have some pretty excesive pedal travel while bringing my B to a halt, because my rear brakes are now woefully out of adjustment. I'd personally check that first since it's pretty easy to do.

*note to self: must remember to order new rear shoes and rear brake adjustment tool

I adjusted the rear brake's to spec. with the same result. I also unhooked the servo & plugged the hose, the brake pedal is then heavey & the travel no better.

I agree, sounds like air.. The servo doesn't add any flexibility to the pedal travel, there is a solid shaft that conects the pedal to the Master Cylinder.

If you had the MC off, you MUST bench bleed it. The pump method doesnt' have a long enough stroke to properly bleed the Master Cylinder in the car..

Good Luck
