Lazy Tach

Any simple suggestions for repairing a lazy tach other than having it rebuilt.
I am just completing restoration and tach/car has not been used for 6+ years.
It did work fine when last driven.

I sucked it up and sent mine to Palo Alto speedo in CA, worked great ever since.

Hi Tony,

The Tachometer in the BJ8 is electric and senses the pulse through a looped ignition of wire. Depending upon the condition of the connections of the white wire running from the ignition switch to the ignition coil and the way the coil is set into the back of the tach, pulses may not be sensed properly. Tach response can also be affected by the addition of electric ignition components and the way required changes were performed if polarity was converted to negative.

Also, depending upon the storage of the tach during restoration, I have seen where spiders have penetrated the mechanism with webbing that has resulted in an encumbrance to proper performance.
