Driveshaft Yoke Orientation

I thought that I read or heard somewhere that the driveshaft yokes are supposed to be 90 degrees to each other. Is this correct?

Look closely at the slider and you should see an arrow stamped in the front section of the propshaft. This should line up with an arrow on the rear, when assembled correctly.

ISTR the yokes can only bolt into the tailpiece on the gearbox and pinion flange one way (i.e. the bolt holes are not a perfect square.)

So as long as the arrows are lined up, it will really on fit one way.

It IS important to keep the orientation of the u-joints in respect to the yokes in the same plane as when you removed them.

Is there something going on in the Lab we should know about?

No, I'm asking on behalf of a friend (No, really!). He had a vibration and took the driveshaft (TR6) to be balanced.

They said the splines were worn and built him a new one. It came back with the yokes in the same plane. He thought this was wrong and he called me.

I don't trust my bramaged dain enough to give a definitive answer!
