I just got a new primary choke cable from AH Spares in England. It was extremely difficult to pull the choke out even with it not istalled in the car. I E-mailed AH Spares and got this reply:
Thank you for your email regarding the choke cable CBS 105. We've checked our stock and we found that they are very stiff, they do not lock when turned left or right. They have a spring loaded ball that sits in the groove (you can see the black clip that holds the ball on the body of the outer
casing). We oiled the stem of the cable and this made a big difference ,as the cable gets used it will free off.
If this is a duplicate of an original BJ8 choke cable, then I would think that it should lock if you turn the knob left or right. Has anyone had any experience with the AH Spares primary choke cable? It LOOKS exactly like an original and is well built. The price right, only $25.00 delivered to my door from England.
