anyone ever order anything from summit racing?

They have the paceseter ceramic coated headers for less than $300. Which is more than $100 than some of the other vendor's .

To good to be true?

Summit Racing is a quality company. Have used them before. Have you tried Ted at TSI-Automotive. He gets down and dirty with the pricing, and he knows what he is talking about.

Ditto on everything Bill said. Summit is a great company. I've been ordering from them for years. He's also right about Ted, if he carries the product, he'll most likely beat most anyone on pricing.

Are they ceramic or JetHot coated and are they coated inside as well?

I have ordered from Summit and they sell quality parts at competitive, sometimes very competitive prices. Fast fair shipping as well.

Pacesetters wouldn't be my choice, no matter what the price.
Every set I have been associated with had fit and quality issues.

Jeff,

I've heard others say that, but with the exception of 10 minutes of grinding and filing two flanges, they fit and perform well on my car.

But I have nothing to compare to, for first hand experience.

Paul, I have a set on my GT6, (they were free), and I spent about three hours fitting them to the engine, while it was on the stand! Then, further mods when installing the engine into the chassis. I've worked with them on Spits, Spridgets, and MGB's. Never again.
I'll either build my own, or buy Stahls.

Jeff,

I can understand your opinion. I'd feel the same way too if that had happened to me.

Did I ever tell you about my Gunst / Borg & Beck adventure? I guess that was my penance and I got away easy with the Pacesetter installation.

Also have had good service with Summit...have used mostly for performance items like aluminmum rads, electric fans,
high perf water pump....water pump was broke after install took it off and to pieces to see what the issues were...thru parts in box shipped back and received refund including shipping fees, no questions asked.

+1 for Stahl headers

Summit is very easy to deal with. I've never heard of any problems what-so-ever.

Summit's a great company, with a dangerously appealing catalog.

The Odyssey dry-cell battery I got from Summit is one of the best things I've ever bought for a car.

And I'll bet it'll FIT, too!

Pacesetters are low on my list as well. NEVER have I encounter'd a "bolt-up" affair with 'em. "Fit-n-Fiddle" has been my experience every time.

I truly wish I'd kept a Hooker one for the MGB's. THERE was a good setup.

Those days are gone. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

Summit is decent....I've bought lots of stuff from them.

The Pacesetter header on my 1500 was abominable. I practically had to cut it up in pieces and reweld everything to get it to fit (I would have returned it, but I was on a tight schedule to make an event).

According to a member on another forum I belong to, the 4-1 design of the Pacesetter header is not the way to go for a street car. He says testing show an increase in HP at high RPM's but a marked decrease at the lower RPM's used on the street. He says the spilt header (4-2-1 tri-Y) on a spit, probably 3-2-1 on a 6 cyl is what is needed for street use "cause it helps shift the power band lower in the RPM range. No personal Knowledge about this, but the guy seems to know what he is talking about.

Forgot about that. There was so much else I got that it just got lost in the clutter. It did work - just a little too well...
