1275 Exhaust Manifold Needed - Along with Advice

Gentlemen:

I was attenhing the exhaust to the exhaust manifold yesterday when it broke. There was a collar on the manifold that I connected to a collar on the exhaust. I ran two bolts un from the lower collar and connected them to the upper collar. I must have overtightened the bolts and the upper collar snapped loose from the manfold.

Here are my questions:

- Can this be repaired?

- I looked at exhaust manifolds for 1275s on Ebay. Most have studs that come out the manifold. Mine doesn't look like that at all. Can anyone recommend the 'right' one for my car?

- Does anyone have one they are willing to sell?

In 1968, the exhaust pipe and exhaust manifold changed from the earlier "muffler clamp" type design with two bolts, to the flange type with three bolts and a "real" donut gasket. I had a 1959 BE years ago, with the 948. I was always having exhaust leaks. I'm not sure if I had the steady support to the transmission or not, which is absolutely required.
So when I built up my 1960 BE with the 1275, I used the header, exhaust pipe, and muffler from the '68. So far so good, as it is a much better design.
The only downside, is that the exhaust pipe exits from under the car on the right side of the left bumper, where on the BE it is on the left. I may have an 1275 exhaust manifold if you need it.

If you had put the 1275 exhaust from a '69 on there then the muffler would exit in the correct location.

Okay, let me ask this:

Will the 948 exhaust manifold (I have a spare one) work on the 1275 engine with the 948 exhaust pipe (which I have in the car)?

yes will work but actually the diameter of the exhaust is different. 948 is smaller of course and 1275 larger.

A 1275 exhaust on a 948 will give you 2 to 3 more HP.
