I am about ready for paint(blue with white coves) and would like to know if the cove paint for two tone cars wraps around the inside edges of the panels? Does anyone have pictures of what was done origionally? Thanks for any help and have a good day!

The Concours guide says that "the lower flat panel was painted the second color and the upper body color extended down over the bevel/fold region (about 3/8 inch wide) to meet it." Is that your question? It may help to let us know whether your car has a molded feature line. Jim

The entire car is painted the primary or upper color and the cove or second color is painted up to the first break in the swage line. On BN1s the painter has to estimate where the swage line would go as it continues forward of the flash and is terminated at the top of the front fender opening. On later cars the swage line continues down in back of the wheel opening. The same was true for the back of the rear fender. On BN1s there is no swage line and the painter has to estimate where it would have gone had the metal been pressed.

This does not answer John's question, but there was an original unrestored 100 ice blue with white cove car at the Vermont Conclave. I was surprised to see that the paint line did not extend straight into the front wheel well forward of the fender flash. Instead, it had a sharp curve downward into the wheel well terminating a few inches below a straight extension of the swage line. I wish I had photographed it, but did not. I have seen other cars done this way, but most 100's use a straight extension of the swage line into the wheel opening.

I would guess that the cove paint should include the edges of the wheel arches, except for the 6 cylinder cars where the cove does not quite reach the front wheel arch. But I don't know for sure.

Sorry for the delay as I went on vacation after I asked the question. I guess what I need to know is does the cove paint wrap around to the inside of the door and where does it end. Also how far up on the rocker panel does the paint go. Does it wrap around the inside of the rear wheel arch? My car is a BJ8 and I have Moments book. I know it is a small detail but I would like to know what is correct. Thanks for all your help and have a good day!
