GT6 Proper stock color oil filter canister 68 GT6?

Gentlemen,
Anyone know with certainty the stock color of the oil filter canister on a 68 GT6 Mk1? I'm thinking silver-gray, and certainly not the Ford type blue found on the later TR6s. I've been told black, but have never seen one in that color on the GT6 (although admittedly I've seen few GT6s).

Many thanks,
Jeff

Mine is that silver-gray color. I changed to a spin on years ago but still have the canister.

Jay - That's the color I've seen. However, I have four guys on another forum saying black. Perhaps they had them in both colors at the time?

BTW, great cars and an even greater garage! How far are you from Media? I may pick your brain as I restore my 68.

In John Thomason's Guide to Originality, on Page 114 it states that there were two types of oil filter bowls:

AC Delco type had a plain silver painted bowl.
Purolator type was fluted and painted eggshell blue.

Unfortunately the pictures are in black and white, so can only go by the text.

Hope this helps.

The Thomason book is a great source. It is great for restoration-downtime reading, too!

Thanks Jeff - I'm in the Hershey, Pa area, so I'm about 90 miles west of you. Feel free to pick my brain but can't guarantee it will provide alot. While I add when I can, I hang out here more for what this place teaches me.
