TR2/3/3A TR3A - HOW MANY LIFT THE DOT PEGS ON CAR

Iam trying to figure out how many Lift-The-Dot Pegs I need on the car. Can anyone help me? How many with Nuts and how many with Metal screw end?

It depends on your TS number. There are fewer pegs with the tapered screw threads on the later post 60000 TR3As because S-T eliminated the wood. My early TR3A has wood-screw threads that go along the top of the dashboard. Later TRs are straight threads here.

From what I understand, the pre 60,000 cars had the sheet metal (wood screw) type on the dash capping and the doors, and the machine screw w/nuts around the rest of the car. On the post 60,000 cars, they used the machine screw type on the doors also, therefore the only place that had the sheet metal type is on the dash capping. I also believe that originally, the two pegs that go through the hood (top) webbing piece were longer then the other machine screw pegs. IIRC, the ones I used were all of the longer length.

FWIW -- You may find that your local Ace hardware carries these in the 'nuts & bolts" area -- in those little cardboard trays.

Getting them that way means you can get a bunch of both types and take back any you don't need.

Oops, I see you're in CA -- not sure if you have Ace hardware up there.

On a pre TS60000 car -

Sheetmetal type pegs- 8 across the dash capping, 4 on each door and 1 each side on the panel just behind the door, for the tonneau cover. Total 18 items.

Metal thread pegs- 11 for around the rear of the cockpit. On later cars I think the spacings were closed up, so 12 would be needed.

Be careful with the sheetmetal type when fitting, as they can easily take a chip out of new duco. Clean the holes of any undercoat/duco build up first.
