TR2/3/3A TR3 ..front lower wishbone removal question....

To remove the wishbone does the steering drop arm nut need to be removed so the bush will clear it? If so is there a torque spec or anything to know anbout re tightening it? Also...how is the trunnion removed from the vertical link?...manual is unclear. Thanks in advance for any input. Karl

Don't recall the exact details, but the arm will come off without removing the drop arm or taking the steering box loose in any way. I don't even recall having to take the nylon bushing out first; just removing the plate and outer nylon washer, then tipping the arm to clear the obstruction.

The vertical link is screwed into the trunnion. There is a stop that has to be removed first, then it simply unscrews.

Randall is correct. On the back side of the trunion there is a small bolt oriented vertically that holds a stop. Once that's removed, the trunion unscrews from the vertical link.

As for the lower wishbone arms, we had to hammer ours off. Start with a small chisel between the trunion and arm (technically, it's trunion, grease washer, arm, all covered or partially covered by a rubber seal) and once there's a gap, just start tapping on the arm.

Wow. I'd sure be careful with that chisel, that's a precision bearing surface you're jamming it into. Safer IMO to just tap on the side of the arm near the end that's stuck.

Mine came apart much more easily than that. Lots of slop -- they pretty much fell off. I can barely wait to try all the new suspension/steering parts that have gone into this thing. It's going to be tight!

The three pieces are interlinked. The trunion has two fixed ears that are fit into the ends of the arms and when the arms are unbolted from the pan. IMPORTANT!!!!! THIS IS WHERE YOU NEED THE SRING COMPRESSOR. You will get the two arms and the trunion undone at the same time then just wiggle them apart.
