TR2/3/3A Pictures of my TR3 with over riders on front

I decided to start a new thread for the requests to see pictures of how I mounted TR3 rear over riders on the front of my TR3 instead of the stock bumper.
This car is definitely not restored and is not intended to be stock. I have not made any drastic changes to it, but just things I like. For those that wonder, the black paint above the gray fenders is mostly old and has a LOT of patina, especially on the back end. For the over rider mounts I used pieces of old bumper mounts. I only used a hand hack saw. For the tubes at the top going through the grille I just used pipe conduit and bent it to shape. I liked this method of mounting the over riders because all that is seen is the bolt head going through the lower valance next to the over rider.

BTW, I got the over riders from a club member that replaced them due to condition, which didn't bother me on this car.

Hi,

I remember seeing bumpers like that on TR-3's as a kid. I always liked the look. What size tire are you running? I have 195/60/15's on TR-6 wheels on my TR-3a. Who made the roll bar?

My tires are P205/50R15. They are racing tires I got cheap from a guy in our club. They are real soft rubber and wearing quickly.

Sorry, I forgot to answer question on roll bar. It was in the car when I got it, so I don't know anything about it. There were no labels. It mounts on the back shelf and back inner fenders with big 1/4 inch thick plates under the shelf and under inner fenders. It is definitely not racing qualified. It is really just an appearance item, although it might help a little in a roll over.

Thanks Kevin! Here are a couple of pictures before I put in the Miata seats and before I put on the magnetic racing numbers. Yes, they are TR6 wheels I had powder coated.

Looks good! I've been thinking of doing the same with a set of seats I have. How tight is the fit on the door and transmission tunnel?

Rob, I got some seats from a '92. They just fit between the doors and driveshaft tunnel. I don't have any padding on the driveshaft tunnel and use just a piece of indoor/outdoor carpet over it. I have to put the carpet over first and then push the seat down and over to get it in. If I put the seat in first before the carpet, I can't get the carpet down in even though it is a stiff carpet. I don't have any problem with the transmission tunnel since I set the seat back as much as I can and still get a bit of recline to the back before it hits my roll bar and the inner fender. So the net is they are a tight fit but can be done, and can be fore-and-back adjusted and reclined.
