My Prayers are with Jerri and the family. Tony was a wonderful guy and helped my husband and I many, many, times over the years with our frantic calls, emails, and posts not only with MGs but also military retirement and such -- we also shared that military lifestyle. A true Veteran and a wonderful MG Friend he was and this home salutes him --- he was in a class all his own. This has really placed a heavy load on my heart. Rest in peace my dear friend.
 
Tony had two trucks - the white Ram and the blue Sonoma. He was quite proud of the miles he'd put on that Sonoma!
 
This has been really bothering me.
Tony,why didn't you wear your seat belt?
I wish he was given a second chance.
How's Jerri doing? I read that she went
to the hospital.

I'm in contact with their next-door neighbor and will pass along info as I get it. I can tell you for now that she is in the hospital with some broken bones. More than that I don't know as yet, but will let you know when I do.
 
I just recieved this from Tony's next door neighbor:

Please forgive me if any of this information isn't exactly accurate as we're getting it piece by piece.
As of an hour ago: Jerri has a broken leg and many broken bones, but is expected to be ok. She is at Huntsville Hospital.

And this from WHNT Channel 19:
One Killed, Two Hurt In Wreck On Dug Hill Road
Dion Hose, WHNT NEWS 19 / January 25, 2010

Alabama State Troopers are investigating a wreck that happened Monday morning on Dug Hill Road. Anthony Barnhill, 63, died at the scene. The wreck happened about 7:38am. Barnhill's truck collided with an SUV. HEMSI Director Don Webster says Barnhill's wife, Jerri, 64, was also in the truck. She was flown to Huntsville Hospital by Medflight. Daniel Taylor, 16, was driving the other vehicle. He is from Owens Cross Roads. Webster says the Barnhills are from Gurley, and that Anthony Barnhill was a former ROTC Instructor at Buckhorn High School for many years.

Just got home and got on the computer to have several emails from different folks about Tony. Quite shocked to hear the news. I went straight to BCF to inform Basil but he already was aware of the accident. Had not talked to Tony in person for several months but he and I exchanged emails pretty regularly. Have known Tony a long time. We have traded cars and parts with each other the whole time. Will miss him. If I can I will go see Jerry to see how she is doing.

Marv, if you do, please tell her that hundreds of people across the world have her and Tony in their thoughts and prayers!
 
When I came back here a week ago and posted pictures of my 74.5 GT finally painted, I did so with a purpose in mind.. To show Tony that the car he told me to "Scrap" and called it a "Parts Car" many times, was going to be back on the road in the near future. "Amazed at what some people can do" was also widely used term from him when he saw my progress on what really was a parts car. I think those "Digs" from Tony were what really put the fire into wanting to get this finished.. Just to get him back. :smile:
Well, unfortunately he won't see it now, but I will keep him in mind the first time I drive it down the road.
Hoping for a speedy recovery for his Wife. I know he will be dearly missed on BCF

I can tell you from experience: Tony was quick to voice his opinion. But he was just as quick to say, "Huh! Didn't think you could do that; I was wrong - I just learned something!"

From all that I have read on this topic I wish I had known the man. Good people are hard to find. To all his family and friends I can only wish you the strength and love to over come this terible tragedy.
 
I just sent him some Charlie Rich cd's last week. He message me on Saturday and said he had been listening to them, and was really pleased to hear the old songs again. I said great! I'll talk to you soon. Little did I know two days ago.
 
Within 12 minutes of my introductory post to this forum where I commented on having a mid-life crisis he responded, "Depends on what you call "mid-life"! I'm 60 & just now reaching "middle age"!"

That's the spirit Tony.

I am feeling so disjointed. My hopes for his wife are that she makes a good recovery and that the family holds close. Now - go hug each other.
 
It's not often I lose my words....Thank you Tony for making this hobby a possibility for so many of us.His advice from how to buy a car, "wake a sleeping B", repair them and keep em on the road has been invaluable to someone who started out with a British Car because I thought it would be "simple". His wisdom and patience will be sorely missed. God Bless.
