Tony Barnhill - Discussion Thread

Tony got my leather seat covers for me a while back via Moss and was a huge help to me on this board and one-on-one. To say he will be missed in the MG community doesn't begin to cover it.

The Colonel knew this more'n most. That he's gone like this is surreal. My mind hurts.

What a sudden loss
We should all put this in a perspective of out own lives, No one knows what tomorrow will bring.

Tony is gone and Jerri his wife is suffering the loss of a spouse and injuries from the accident, she will probaly not even be able to go to his funeral.

I will put Toneys' family in my prayers. If Jerri is in need of financial help please post a address or way of helping the family if needed.

This news brings a huge hurt in my heart and a tear in my eye!
May God look after Jerri tonight.
I have no other words.

Wow! What news to come home to... It's been a sad start to this year for me, losing another friend suddenly just days into the new year (a young lady who was a key organizer in our local arts scene, and dedicated social worker working with Native youth).

And although I never met Tony in person, I get the sense that he was one of those great people, and also a person who knew how to get things organized and happening, and he was just hitting his stride... And never did get his Morris Minor Pickup that he always said he wanted so much...

My thoughts and prayers are with Tony's family and for a full recovery for Jerri, Tony will be missed

Ditto, ditto and ditto !!!!

Perhaps the greatest, most important thing Tony will have ever taught us is to say what needs to be said, do what needs to be done and treat folks like you might not ever see them again cause you just never know when.

I still can't believe this. I came back here looking for his reply about the Saints going to the superbowl, his last post, only to find this. I still don't want to believe it.

Pehaps it might be helpful to PM him with our goodbyes. I know there are sevral of us that won't be able to attend his funeral to be able to do this in person. I know there are things I would have liked to have been able to say to him in person.

I put Jerri and her family on the prayer list at church tonight. Please let her know there are others that are with her in her hour of darkness.

Folks, if you want to post condolences in this thread - a note to the Jerri and the family, do so here and I will cull those posts and print then then send them to the family at the appropriate time.

What a dreadful shock. I only knew Tony from this forum and a couple of messages, but I really am so sorry. I can only guess how much he will be missed.
R.I.P.

I am in total shock over this. Tony was such a vital part of BCF and will certainly be missed by me and other on this forum.

Fell out of my chair in disbelief. Had communicated with Tony lots on Jags and MGs and refered him to the area trim shops on his expertise. May he rest in peace! Condolances to the family and hope Jerri mends well!

I've read this thread 4 times since this afternoon and still can't believe it. Still in shock and don't know what to say. Part of my extended family has gone.
...great loss to us all.

Jeri and family will be in our thoughts, hearts and prayers in the days to come, Tony.

I'm beyond stunned at this news. Tony's support via email, phone and his posts in the forums along with his fantastic parts support have been a good part of my head long dive into the world of working on MG's. Tony will be greatly missed.

What a loss to us all. Tony will be greatly missed by the British Car hobby and all of us. My respects to the family and best wishes for Jerri. AL Bradley

Horrible news.. I don't post here very much, but I thought I would pay my respects to Tony on his main hang-out. I met Tony on the MGBE many years ago, bought parts from him over the years, enjoyed his postings, but never met him in person. Just to share a story, the last parts I bought from him were some door skins for my MGA from VB.. he called here to check and see if they were ok and if we received them ok, not damaged etc.. my wife answered as I was at work and she said he was "very nice" and was impressed he had called from AL to check on the parts. My prayers are with the Barnhill family.. RIP Tony.

Tony, you were the first one I bought parts from, Thank you. Your website has helped me get and keep my car on the road, Thank you. Your camaraderie on this board has been truly enjoyed, Thank you. I am so sorry for your family, Jerri, you are in my prayers.
Paul

I offer my small condolences to Jerri and the children and grandchildren. Such a lose must be unbearable now, but I do wish all of Tony's survivors more and more peace and comfort in the days ahead.

Jack

I'll chime in here as well, feeling shocked and saddened at the terrible loss of this fine gentleman. Never talked to Tony personally, but thoroughly enjoyed his posts for the 5 years I've been here. Funny, smart, knowledgeable and encouraging comments and answers to all.

Thanks, Basil, for the space to post all our comments.

A great man will be missed, indeed.
