Tony Barnhill - Discussion Thread

To Jerri and the Barnhill family. I am so very sorry for your loss and for all of us on the BCF as Tony will be sadly missed. Hug each other and hold close.

If a measure of a man is how many will mourn his passing, then Tony is truly a giant among men! my heart-felt condolences to the Barnhill family.

I just saw this, my day is ruined. Still can't believe it.

I'll always be grateful to Tony Barnhill for helping to lead me over to the "dark side" (i.e., MG) after decades of restoring and driving Triumphs. His input influenced my decision to purchase my MG Midget last summer and for this, I am grateful.

So, from now on, every time I drive my Midget I'll think of Tony. Thank you, Tony!

I feel for his family and closest friends, best regards and coldolences to them.

Basil, thank you for letting us know. So sorry . . .

Please, everyone, drive safely.

I never met Tony; we only had the "digital" connection.

But since we first talked about MGs back in 2004, I always found him a treasure trove of advice and support.

We didn't always agree - that's human nature. But I always found him eager to share his wise counsel, and experience, with everyone.

Tony, I miss you.

Tom
PS - I'll be taking a picture of Tony and his grandson along with me on my trip. Tony really loved that child, and he loved old Mercedes cars.

The world has been made a poorer place because of this, and our own personal little worlds will never be quite the same again. It may not impact our daily routine, but when we see an MG, we will remember him, and especially when we come to log in to our online home, the forum, we shall remember him and the knowledge and support that he gave so freely to everyone.

Tony Barnhill truly left a legacy by which he will be remembered by many. How many of us can say that about ourselves?

Like many here, my connection with Tony was only digital -- but this showed the best of how the digital world can be. He shared his expertise with me when I sorely need it, and I enjoyed following along with his stories and sharing in his excitement about each project he took on. He was a reminder to me that this old car hobby is more about the good people you meet than the cars themselves. I count myself among the many who were directly effected by him.

To Jerri, I wish you a full recovery, though I know it will be a long, hard journey for you. To all of Tony's family, I can only offer the simple fact that folks all around the country are thinking about you, and you need only ask and we will be there to help any way we can.

How sad, Tony was very active on BCF and he will be missed. I had bought some parts from him, and he seemed a kind and honest person. My condolences to his family and best wishes for Jerri's recovery, though I realize broken bones may heal much faster than the loss of a loved one. Rest in peace Tony, we miss you already.

Basil, thanks for sending our posts to his family, a very thoughtful gesture.

I don't know what to say.. I got this news last night from Tinsters post on facebook that my wife got on her cell because both of my computers are infected and I can't get on the web. Here I am at work checking in. my prayers are with Jerri and family. This is horrible news. Sad day indeed

I have a photo of the truck, but don't wish to post it. No imagination is needed to see why the results are as they are. How terrible. I hope his wife is stable and recovering. Her mental recovery will take a much longer time. So sad.

Sad day indeed. Tony was a real gent who will be sorely missed. Thoughts are with his family.

I am still in shock from this news.
To Jerri and family I wish to express my sincere condolences at your deep loss.
They say no one is irreplaceable, but Tony is!

Dave, Annie and family :grouphug:

I don't think this adds much additional info, but I found this on huntsvillenewswire; it does say they Jerri's (and the young man's) injuries were not life-threatening. I pray for a speedy recovery for Jerri, though I know the emotional part of loosing a spouse will be the hardest.

I didn't sleep at all last night and have been walking around like a zombie all morning. God, I so wish this were not true! I had just talked to Tony on the phone, I think it was Friday. He and I were kindred spirits in a lot of ways and I feel like I have lost an older brother. I am finding it difficult to put coherent thoughts together right now.

One thing I hope is that, if no other good can come of this, it might remind folks that life is precious and life is fragile! Tell the people you love that you love them - often!

Lastly - please drive safely and use your seat belts, even on those short trips down the street!

When I first purchased my B in 06 I didn't know where to turn for parts or advice. A search of the net quickly led me to this site and consequently to Tony and his parts. The relationship ship was a good one, especially for me, not only did I get the advice I needed but also parts at very good prices. Tony was always quick to respond with advice and timely parts shipments. I am going to miss him.
