MGB Tanith's 1970 MGB

So my daughter turns 13 this summer. We've had an agreement that she can have any car she wants so long as it's a complete restoration. We lucked out today and found this nice 1970 MGB project (and believe me, it's a project, she'll learn a lot!).

So, if all goes according to plan this should be a fun father daughter project. The existing owner has a title issue to clear up and then we'll take delivery of the vehicle.

So I'm back in the MG saddle again.

Very nice! My daughter (20) who is not especially interested in my cars (except to inherit them) studies history. Her dream is to either curate a museum or design interactive displays. Last fall she came home dreaming of restoring a small motorcycle because she has all of a sudden realized that a restoring an old bike is partly a job of curating history and she doesn't just want to study history she wants to be able to say she interacted with history - I'm proud of her perspective.

Have fun, it will be special for you both and I guarantee she will drive carefully if she had to sand it!

Yep. The fellow who we're getting it from is active on the MG experience but not here. Found it on craigslist.

Let me know if ya need anything,
I have 3 parts cars, and 7 running,
driveable cars.

We picked up the car today. Didn't do much with it as I was suffering from a near brain explosion thanks to all the stuff blooming in the area. We're going to Wheels of Britain in the AM, and will likely start in on the car in the afternoon providing my brain isn't still trying to explode.

Tanith got started with her MGB this afternoon. As I type this she's scrubbing rust out of the boot. We were at Wheels of Britain today and she saw a nicely restored '70 MGB, so now she has a much better idea in her head of what her car could look like.

Well done. Keep us updated, will be great to follow along. She's going to get quite the automotive education, that's for sure.

Jody,

You're a lucky man - I hope that she hangs on to it
long after you're gone - she'll always have these memories.

Jody, be sure to have her watch the Frogeye episode of Wreck Rescue. She'll see how good a start she already has. Plus it's a young girl doing that restoration.
