Ok I think I got the rear-end deal straighten out for now. Next problem I'm tackling is the brakes. I'm upgrading to a Wilwood dual master cylinder but was wondering if I can use later model disc and calipers on the front. Most after market set-up I see are expensive and I was hoping that you guys have some other Ideas that may be more economical! Thanks. Dave

Im pretty sure you can swap the appropriate pieces from a later spridget to get front disc brakes.

you could also do the big brake upgrade kit but I think that the install process is much more involved than it sounds

I started a thread awhile back about modifying the original pedal box to fit a pair of aftermarket (willwood, tilton, girling etc.) master cylinders with remote reservoirs. Im still planning on trying this in the near future and if I can get it to work I will post a template.

Thanks Brandon, if you get to the pedal let me know, I have to do the same thing. I'm going to somehow mount a bed-plate on to the pedal box and then mount a clutch and brake masters cylinder to it.

As for the disc swap you mentioned, will it require different tires. I tried the link but it kept sending me to the that award site for some dude. LOL Thanks man.

THANKS THAT WORKS.

heres the link to the thread about modifying the pedal box. both tilton and wilwood make master cylinders that have side mount bolt holes so the thought is that the existing pedal box could have new holes drilled to mount the master cylinders and use washers/spacers to align them with the push rods. seems simple in theory...

Brandon Thats a great thread thanks. That set-up looks clean. But, since I'm going to put the brake lines in myself I think I want a duel master cylinder, that single look scary, one bad fitting and yikes.

Anyone ever rebuild the dampeners on there Bugeye? I'm going to leave the original suspension on for a bit and would like to do the work myself if I can. Anything special I should know before I start. As always thank you guys for the help with this build! Dave.

Send the dampers out to Peter C. at World Wide Imports. He rebuilds them better than new and they don't leak. NFI just a very satisfied customer. Why reinvent the wheel?

That sounds good Jim. But how much $ do you figure all 4 would be. I'm running out of Chaaa-ching on the project, so was hoping I could do it for less myself. But if it's a science project I'll consider having it done. Thanks. DWB

It is a science project with special tooling and parts not available anywhere.

Peter C is the only way to go, you will never have to do it again. Do them in pairs, I would expect that the rear ones might be OK.

Roger that! What do you think it's gonna set me back. And as you suggest, I'll have the front done first! Thanks. Dave

Someone give Dabe the web address for Peter C. My big computer is down and it is not on this one.

Oh about 70 bucks each, like new or better and lifetime warantee, Peters lifetime.

Peter Caldwell, World Wide Auto Parts in Madison, Wisconsin. https://www.nosimport.com/
Current pricing is $90 each for the fronts and $70 each for the rears plus the core charge of $60 each for the fronts and $30 each for the rears.
For that you'll get back a shock that is actually better than new, with delrin bushings instead of the original steel to zinc bearing surface, true lip type seals instead of the original packing material, and a lifetime guarantee.

Thanks Bill. Should havc a real computer up and running as soon as latest and greatest video card arrives.

And the shocks really do work well. Call Peter C. give credit card #, Nice box arrives several days later with your requested parts, put old cores back in box, call UPS, Core charge is refunded to your CC. It's that simple. And did I mention shocks work better than new.
