The other day the Spitfire I have been working on seem to have a short around the fuse box, it felt like a wire was broken around the connection the fuses ride on. To check this out I ran a straight pin in the wire a few inches back on each wire and checked with an OHM meter, worked like a charm and found the culprit in a minute with no damage to wires and not having to go any further down the wires to find a bare spot. I’m sure a small needle will do the trick also. This could save a lot of time in checking out Lucar connections. We ended up having to pull the copper connections out and this turned out simple once you know how. There is a small pointed protrusion on the clip that snaps in place. Put a small screwdriver behind the connector on the wire side and pry forward at the same time pulling back, comes right out. This is going to be the best way to clean up the fuse connection other than a small wire brush on a dremel. Hope this will help.
