Interesting! So the whole CD150 is only there as a throttle body? Would it not be easier to use a 'standard' TB with roughly the same opening size as the stock manifold, perhaps even one with a Throttle Position Sensor (Mustang, etc?) Or does your FI system (MS&S?) not require a TPS?

Answering for Morris, the Megasquirt system needs inputs from:
1: Intake air temperature
2. Intake air pressure
3. Coolant temperature
4. O2 sensor.
5. Throttle postion sensor

The CD 150 (minus the dashpot) is just the throttle body. You can run it with or without a TPS. I have a TPS mount that I got from sidedrafttbi.com. But the version of MS I am running can also calculate acceleration enrichments from sudden drops in MAP so I know longer use the TPS.

Another throttle body could be used, and would probably improve air flow. But using another throttle body would not achieve my goals. Also, technically, it is against US law to modify or remove pollution equipment. My system allows all original pollution equipment to remain in place.

I realize everybody hates the CD150, and few 1500 owners would be sad to see it go. But, like many LBC enthusiasts, I think the SU is a thing of beauty. So I developed a system that could be easily adapted to almost any sidedraft carb.

I just ran across this picture from when I did my masters project.

I used it to get a step-response function for a Toyota hot-wire sensor.
The piston was blocked off with a solid aluminium cylinder, pressed in, and the bore was machined out smooth. The dome was just for looks.

Awesome Morris, tell more about how this is going and what the benefits are in your experience.
This looks like something I would like to do to my Midget if it was not too much fixing, and since you state that simplicity in installation is your main goal I am all ears on this project.

That goes for me too. Though I'm sure I could do it all myself, I would appreciate all info I could get from a previous installation.
The difference being that yours is a 8 port head and I'm stuck with 5 ports. When the time comes, I will probably use a single-point injection and remove the double 1.5 carbs.

Right now everything is stalled while I do some remodeling work on my house. When things start to move on the project again, I will keep you posted.

The benefits so far, easy starts in cold weather, immediately drivable (no warm up needed), big decrease in emissions (in theory) and slight increase in fuel economy and performance.
