Yes, I LOVE my LBC. I LOVE my LBC. Repeat as necessary. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazyeyes.gif Just when you think you've got everything squared away after recently replacing brakes and flushing the cooling system, what's the one commonly replaced part of the cooling system I haven't replaced yet?
Survey says... The water pump. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif
I had wondered about that before after seeing some moisture on the lower nut once or twice this year, but it has certainly decided to let go. Nice antifreeze puddle in the catch pan, so after cleaning things up, tightening hose clamps, and stuffing a paper towel under the weep (flood?) hole, it's getting mighty wet. Thank goodness Vicky Brit has replacements, even if Moss doesn't.
So, anything I should know about water pumps? I've had it out before when I put a new fan clutch in, so I know how to swap the fan clutch. I had heard of spinning the pump while dry to help seat the shaft seals on a new pump, is there any truth to that? Or is there hope of reviving the old one that way? Either way, the new one is going in. I'm not going through the pain of working on the ratzen fratzen cooling system again without putting the new pump in, but if there's hope for the old one as a spare, I'll keep it.
