installing new 4 inch ductwork from the front of the car to the heater blower. ...not a lot of room to work, but do you trim the leading edge of the ductwork so that it slides onto the blower inlet more easily...by trimming, i means do you cut at an angle to allow the ductwork to slide more easily onto the blower housing? any ideas or suggestions are much appreciated.

Fitted mine on again a few months ago after removing the ducting during some under dash work... Its a real PITA! The ducting wants to delaminate -esp. when its been on the car for a while. I suspect the easiest way to do the refit is when there is no fender in place, but failing that, can you fit the ducting to the fan with the fan in place BUT not yet secured with the mounting bolts? That way you can move the angle of the approach. I didnt do it this way, but if I was to have to do it again, I'd be trying that.

I found it necessary to work and stretch the right-angle bend into the hose before installing it onto the blower then through the firewall. I attached u-nuts to the feet on the blower mount. This made installation onto the wheel well pretty easy with the hoses attached. The blower assembly was left unmounted until after the hoses were attached.

My local hardware store had rubber grommets which were much cheaper than the Moss rubber motor mounts.

well i started all over. took the blower loose and slipped the four inch hose on. clamped the hose on with a factory tyoe clamp and bolted the fan housing to the body..took some effort but finally was able to align the holes one at a time and bolt in place. the three inch hose was a bit easier working the hose from inside the car...wiggling and jiggling once i got the hose over the lip of the three inch side of the housing. tomorrow the fresh air ducting....thanks for the input!

I found a paint tin that was the right size and worked the tubing into a tight bend on that - worked for me, but then I did have the engine out so things were a bit easier to get at. I had thought of undoing the fan but that seamed to be an effort as well.
