A friend has a 1999 300M with the 3.5 V-6, shows 112K on the clock. He decided to make a social event of repairing the A/C so came over to th' hovel Saturday AM. Found a "pinched" O-ring at the recently replaced expansion valve and put in a new drier... We stretched a one hour job out to two, vacuumed the system down for another. Then went out to find a set of plugs for it (and a CAB run). A/C worked well, plugs were ~original~!! He had replaced the cam belt a few months back but didn't pull the plugs!?! Anyway: the plugs had widened themselves to .075" over the time but the engine STILL ran well! I'm surprised & impressed.

Doc,

Are you telling me that if my Dodge Dakota
starts running bad to open the gap on the plugs to
.075,& it will run better?

Somehow I don't think that'd do much good, Doug. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

I'm surprised this thing would start at all. Champions, OEM from what I can see. .050" is what I find they should be... even that seems huge.

It's a testament to the ignition system.

A friends 1994 Escort (1.9l) calls for something like .054" or something like that. Coil packs do pack a punch it seems.
