TR2/3/3A TR3A Fuse Block Q

So I saw an NOS TR3 fuseblock on eBay, which reminded me I had never cleaned up my own:

When I got the car, the lack of a fuse block cover was evident.....

After cleaning, I went to attach the fuse block cover I picked up on eBay about 2 years ago:

I find the cover won't really attach well to the block. The inner "tube" seems to foul against the sides of the fuses themselves. For now, I've trimmed the inner tube, but it seems half-assed..... any other suggestions out there? I know I'll come back one day after a spirited drive, and the cover will no longer be there...

It's my opinion that the early style fuse blocks (like the one you show) did not have covers originally. The cover is likely from the later style 'Lucar' fuse block.

Here's a photo from "Practical Hints", 6th ed showing the block with no cover.

Thanks, Randall! What's so sad is that I had looked at the book earlier in the day, to double-check on the fuse location and rating, and actually looked at <span style="font-style: italic">that</span> picture, and didn't think to look at the fuse block cover. Thanks for posting it!

Interesting that it came pre-loaded with fuses ... I suppose that means the part number had to change when Triumph switched to a 35 amp horn fuse. And that probably explains why "Practical Hints" 6th ed shows Lucas P/N 033283 for the fuse block.

Shame it never rains here; got no use at all for this anorak

Randall, I'll double-check tonight, but I think 033283 might be the part number for the later fuse box with Lucar connectors, two 35 amp fuses (and spares), AND a cover! :smile:

And it might rain here this afternoon, so my anorak is always handy....
