While cleaning the engine block of my BJ7 I noticed what I would describe as wire or small rods in the water jacket near the cylinder walls. They look like rusted coat hanger or welding rod. I don't believe it to be either of those things. That's just a description. They are mostly loose but attached enough that they can't be pulled out. I'm guessing these are left over from the casting process from the factory. I don't know how engine blocks are made so it's hard for me to imagine what purpose these wires would have. Or, are they not from the original manufacturing process. See pics. Can anyone offer an explanation?
