Fixing that exhaust leak under the hood will certainly help but I was also looking at the air flow when the car is moving. First thing I'm trying is taking out the original grill and sustituting some mesh from an unused house air filter. This allows me to tie in there an attachment from my shop vac that will hopefully channel air into the that big hose that leads to the heater box (hot water has been cut off from the heater). Also, an old license plate fits nicely over the old rusted out sheet metal:
Then I fitted some thin gutter guard stuff to stop the air from escaping downward:
Then some more to stop from escaping upwards:
Doesn't look too bad when the hood is closed:
I since painted it black to make it less obtrusive.
Hopefully this is channelling air more effectively into the engine bay.
