We have a thread going in the "National Events" section above, with some entries by folks along the route. Check it out...

John will be in Indianapolis soon, and then headed here to Middle Tennessee before going to Memphis and points west. Be sure to check to see when he'll be in your area, and get out and support him!

Thanks to Dennis, Tracer51, I was able to add a few pictures of Uncle Jack and the Stag that he is driving for the event that Basil alludes to above.
Paul, a minor clarification: "Uncle Jack" is the name of the Stag itself; John Macartney is the driver raising awareness and funds for PTSD on the drive.

After nearly 10 years of e-mailing John, I finally got to meet him in person Monday in Guilderland, NY, (near Albany)!

Andy,

Thanks for letting me know. Everyone was calling him "Jack" which I thought was his nickname for John. He didn't seem to mind and kept smiling and shaking hands.

That is if they let him back in the USA at Marine City tomorrow ... Fingers crossed please!! This Border crossing stuff is giving me an ulcer!

Jeff (Cosmo) Cramer is now caravaning in his TR4A with john at least to Indiana.

Another part of great news! SUNOCO has stepped up to provide 350 gallons of fuel for the trip!!

BTW, photos from the TTA host clubs are being uploaded to Flickr at

TTA Stag (a.k.a. "Uncle Jack") and John Macartney renter US of A - Visa SOLVED

Hello All,

Well against opinions to the contrary, John Macartney of Ex-Triumphfame, driving the Triumph Trans AmeriCan STTAG (the car is also known as"Uncle Jack" in Honor of the Memory of FOT Racer Jack Drews) have successfully crossed back into the USA, totally without incident or delay, and after a very successful hosting with the Toronto area Triumph Club and raising funds for Anxiety Disorders of Canada and the other
charities!! Thank you Ontario Triumphs, and all the hosts and host clubs for all your support and help!

The newsflash is, John now has his visa extended via his "new" I-94 form until 30 October!! Visa issue SOLVED for the duration of the drive!!! I suppose it helps to know a few people here and there

What does this mean for North American Triumph (and all British Car)drivers? :driving:
It means, get your cars on the road to meet up with John over then next 9 weeks on this first of its kind epic journey to Triumphest / North American Triumph Challenge 2009 in San Luis Obispo. There are many folks planning on caravaning with John on the last leg down the Pacific Coast Highway to SLO, this will be one of the greatest caravans of Triumphs EVER!! I am currently tallying all the Triumphs that have participated in some part of this drive and hope to have tallies ready
by SLO.

This Weekend, BIG PARTY AT ISOA!!! :thirsty:

That's good news. That car is getting a real workout with all of the traveling that he's doing.

He had to be out of New England. It's sunny in those pictures.

One more leg completed, with many more to go.

Picked John and "Uncle Jack" up in Evansville yesterday, along with BCF'er Paul Stedman. Nice drive back to Clarksville and wonderful dinner with John, who's snoozing away before we leave for Nashville later this morning.

Lovely gentleman, and his stories about the drive and the cause for which he's making it are wonderful.

I hope you can visit with him when he's in your area.

Will try to post some pictures as soon as I can.

For those who don't want to see the picture of my MGBGT that I'm selling.

Hey Mark,
These are great photos!!

Can you add these photos to the Flickr
"Triumph TransAmerica" pool so more people can see them under the TTA group?

Thanks!

Here's the route, Doug.

Keep watching the website, and you can follow their progress. Looks like he'll be coming down I-5 around Sept. 20. I'll see if I can get you some contact info for the clubs that are responsible for his travel in your area.

In the meantime, Glenn Merrell, coordinator of the event, may post some more info here for you.

Glen, They are already in the pool.

Thanks Mark!!
John is with British Iron Club in Arkansas tonight.

Doug ... I-5?? Heck NO! No no no no no. :nonono:

The routes are APPROXIMATE on that map so we could get a general idea of how long the trip was going to take, and the ACTUAL ROUTES taken locally are entirely up to the LOCAL CLUBS.

Why? Because only the local clubs know the area best, which roads to take, which roads to avoid, what "Must Drives" and Must See places there are.
So the Route is not cast is concrete even in the tiniest bit, but rather set by the local club which in this case is Triumph Travelers and is 101 or 1A Coastal Highway. :driving:

This is currently being planned by Triumph Travelers with a bit of input from me for a few days.

Cheers!
