I stumbled upon a mostly complete '71 Stag today in a local junkyard. Not sure if there is any interest here, but I can grab parts off of it.....just LMK what you need and I'll see about grabbing it for you.

**edited to add that the same yard also has a '73 or '74 MGB GT that is mostly complete as well (gauges are missing).**

How are the seats?

Is the original engine there?

Dang, I wish I'd read this yesterday|! We decided to take I-44 instead of I-70; otherwise I'd be in Denver in a couple of days.

The seats actually looked pretty nice. I won't say they were 100% perfect, but really not all that bad for being 39 years old. They were a tan color. No gaping holes or tears, but definitely used. I will try to swing by and take some pics for you tomorrow and to find out how much they want for them.

The engine was there too and looked to be complete as well (not ripped apart....yet). I'll get a price on it as well.

It is too bad you didn't swing through Denver....you could have loaded up the trunk with parts.

I'm not sure how often you get out this way, but if you buy these parts I can store them for you until you can come get them.

It's Colorado Auto & Parts just south of Hampden on Santa Fe. Here's their web address (it'll have their address, etc.): https://www.coloradoautoandparts.com

I don't own a Triumph....just my Bugeye (sorry  ). I just posted here because I saw it and figured someone might need some parts off of it.

Hey MrSprite,

Please do send me some of those photos.
stagbytriumph@triumphstagclub.org

I live in Lafayette CO and know most of the Stags in North America.

If you can, get commission number off the door post and type of transmission.

I sent them an email too to get more information about the car, maybe they will give me more information and I can go see it next weekend.

Thanks!

Hey Glenn.....I haven't had the chance to get back over there, so no pics right now. I'll see about driving down tomorrow. I do know that it has an automatic transmission.

I live in Brighton.....we're practically neighbors!

Sorry guys.....I have not been back to this junkyard since I posted this. They may or may not still have it......sorry, just been busy with the Bugeye and the two '71 Honda 600's I just bought.

Quite alright. But you and I need to get together and talk Stags soon ...

I now have a full set of photos. LE2844LBW Manufactured August 1971

On Monday this week, Paul Lugo and I went to Colorado Auto Parts and pulled a deep tub wheelbarrow overflowing with parts and bright work off this Stag.

I'll be going to the yard again this week to yank the engine, rack and pump fro core rebuilds, Brooks Turner is getting the hard top, windshield.
Trans is a BW35, so I will leave that, but grab the brackets

Saddle Tan Front seats are in excellent condition, a few minor rips, but foams are surprisingly firm. I grabbed the rear seat for a friend

This Stag never had a soft top, one of the early models where the top was a choice of hard top or soft top.

What's left? Rear early style bumper, bonnet, boot lid, doors, quarters, differential and axles, front struts, dash and wiring.

If you want anything else, it has about 30 days before going to the crusher. These guys won't offer up a salvage title, so it is going to be shredded bits soon.

I thought Brooks was trying to sell his Stag. Is it still in pieces?

Somewhat, some body work has been done, some epoxy primer, some parts are power coated, chrome is replated, some engine work completed.
Asking $2500 it is a steal.

The 71 Stag in the Denver Salvage yard has, I was told last week, gone to the shredder before I could grab the majority of the driveline.

BTW Shawn,

Are you going to the Conclave? :driving: I did not do the "Drive the Rockies this year, my navigator is down with the flu.

Maybe I will show up for the Sunday event in my Stag but I do not think I will have enough time to park on the green. Brooks owes me a burger and a beverage for some seat frames I salvaged for him.

Not going to be able to make it this year. My TR6 may be there with its new owner but I'm not sure. I think Paul is out of town as well.
