My exhaust just slid right out? What a breeze this was so far.

Well, I did all this to try and find the cause of two things: a) that suspicious light clunk on first clutch engagement in first grear from a stop; and b)a heavier clunk an high rpm shifts in 2nd and 3rd.

Not shown is the driveshaft which also just came right out.

To me the axle flanges on each side of the diff seem to have a bit too much play. I'm feeling about 1/32 of an inch there.

I've not a clue of any problem as of yet, and the frame bridges for the diff mount appear solid and unbroken.

The good news so far is that this "new" car of mine was well maintained. The underside looks great.

No they are the originals. They're in good shape, it appears. I'm not finding anything that looks like excessive wear.

The passenger side Hub is noisy, like its got some sand in the bearings.

The U Joints and the axles showed some marring and wear, but I doubt they are a source of any problem.

Mounts appear to be the upgraded nylatron ones, and the stud mounts on the car seem solid and intact.

I'm going to clean the frame, apply Rust Mort or a product like that to the surface rust I can't remove, and sand, prime and paint the rest.

I'm toying with the idea of adding gussett pieces to the frame bridges,but that may be overkill if I find nothing week. It's also hard to do without removing the current pieces.

Should the sliding yoke of the driveshaft always face forward, toward the transmission?

Are you going to put the cylindrical dust shields (cones) on? be aware that the boots that cover the splines that join the shafts are a bit of a pain to put on if you are going to change them, but that is also the easier time to put on those shields.
