TR2/3/3A Tappet Clearance confusion

1959 TR3A.
I have read several positions on intake vs exhaust clearance. Thought .010 intake and .012 exhaust.
Just received the "Tune up your Triumph Sports Car" manual by S Russell Hawe. It gives .010 for both for TR3.
However .010 intake .020 Exhaust for the TR2.
What is the truly accepted standard----or does it matter?

The TR2 valve cover sticker says .012" for both.

Workshop manual, and driver's instruction manual both say .010" intake, .012" exhaust; IF you have the cast iron rocker pedestals used on TR2 and early TR3. But the aluminum pedestals were a recommended retrofit, so even early engines may have the aluminum pedestals, in which case the exhaust lash should be .010" as well, "for both normal and high speed motoring".

The parts book gives the change point as TS12564E, but TS11xxx (sorry, I forget the bottom digits) was already wearing aluminum when it came to me even though it still had the "Le Mans" head.

FWIW - I use .012 on the exhaust side (aluminum pedestals) just to have a little extra room should the gap change on a long trip. Possibly less likely now that I have hardened seats, but someone suggested it (Ted S?) and it seemed a reasonable precaution.
