Just one of those spontaneous itches I'm considering to scratch. Have always been intrigued by the Masserati 3500 but have acknoldeged one will never fit my pocket book. Noticed there seems to be a fairly nice condition 1967 Maserati Quattroporte for sale fairly close to home. It seems to have intrigued me as a unique driver....anyone have any look fors, look outs, yea's, nays on this model....thanks for any input...just curious for the moment...

Re: Experiences on a 1967 Masserati Quattroporte?

You had best be really really brave. Unless it is fully in working order, and used regularly, it will most likely be a money pit of spectacular proportions. If you think that P cars are expensive, wait until you find the italian definition of unobtanium. Yow!!

Jesse KNOWS 'em!!!

And I second his cautions. Matter of fact, I'll make a OneWord piece of advice:

"RUN!!"

..really. They're astoundingly hateful.

Re: Experiences on a 1967 Masserati Quattroporte?

A while back a guy offered me a basket case ’67 Quattroporte for dirt cheap. I wish I could’ve taken him up on it but I didn’t have the space.

I may be crazy but not stupid, had no intentions of restoring it. I just wanted the engine and gearbox.

OK...I'll stick to cars in the Northern European Plains or higher ..wanted to consider it a daily summer driver but I don't need another daily fixer upper.... PC I do agree the motor sure is purdy though!

Re: Experiences on a 1967 Masserati Quattroporte?

It's Bosch EFI injected, 2L engined. If it's been maintained (records to prove it) it can be a good dependable ride. Just know there are NO dealers in the US at the moment. If you do your own work, they can be an affordable daily driver. Just be prepared to think ahead as to what to order for parts replacement. I happen to love the Alfas I've owned over the last 30+ years (three GTV's and now this Spider) but the rust mites seem to get at 'em as a delacacy more enjoyable than LBC's. Inner sills, floorboards, battery compartment and spare wheel bin in the boot are favored rust out spots. That'n has lived "up north" and has those cosmetic plastic covers over all the critical areas... be wary. A first hand inspection up close and personal before any money is laid down!
