So what effect does 10% blended ethl gasoline have on stock spark plugs?
blended fuel and hotter igntion?
Blended fuel hotter ignition more advance?
does it raise combustion temps?
lower them?
No effect stick to recomended heat range.
Just wondering

Have not heard of any comments concerning the heat range change due to ethnol.

All though I hate that sign on the pump, I want to buy gas.

Me too, Jack. I haven't seen any remarkable change as 10% mix became part of the landscape. Plugs here don't appear to have any issues... if the junk is increased it may be a concern. I did put a colder plug set in the Alfa last week as a "try it and see". It was harder to light off when cold, seemed to be a bit sluggish too... went back to the heat range I'd been using for the past nine years and all is fine. I don't dare wind in a hotter range set.

Just wondering as things have change since my 948 roll off the line in 59"
No lead
The blend the hotter coils detergents. Have tinkered with gap and I'm not running as wide as so say you can with the hotter coil it just doesn't wok on my engine. NGK plugs.
I have a 1 step colder set I'm going to stick in some day when ITs not so blinking hot out and find an open piece of road and see what they read.

Ok doc. I'll bite why Bosch over NGK?

Seems all manufacturers use a different scheme: Champion lower numbers are "colder" but NGK is opposite that. No "standard". NAPA or a real parts house should have cross-over charts.

The Bosch plats seem to fire no matter what. I have pulled some out that look like they came from a coal mine, yet they were still firing. The Champions are next-best on my list. NGK's are okay but they seem to think one heat range is good for about everything LBC. I never had good luck with 'em in MGs or Alfas of my own but a number of customers used 'em in LBCs with no issues. Dunno if it had to do with my "driving style" (usually my boot is either IN th' loud pedal or on the binders) or not.

Even with the "hotter" coil I wouldn't gap 'em much over 0.030", but somewhere like 0.028". Running some plug cuts can be telling.
