Oh....Darn... - Slave Cylinder

Put the TR6 in the garage....a trail of some kind
of fluid.I thought it was the oil pan drain plug, but it
turns out to be the clutch slave cylinder leaking at the
front.What do I do now?
The reason that I ask,is I have the Datsun B210 torn
apart,the '60 Chevy panel truck needing work,so I'm trying
to think this out before I touch another vehicle & render
it useless.
Too many dead cars around here - I need to make the
ratio of running/dead cars go to the plus side.
Ideas?

Pick up a seal kit for the TR6 and stuff it in. Even if the slave really should be replaced, a seal kit is quick and cheap and should get you back on the road for at least a few months. According to their website, the NAPA in Eureka has the kit for $20. O'Reillys has it listed too, but no indication if the stores in Eureka have it on the shelves. You can stuff in a new seal without even removing the cylinder from the car. If there is still any fluid in the system, jam something against the clutch pedal to hold it slightly depressed, so the rest of the fluid doesn't run out while you're working on the slave.

Afterwards, pump up the clutch pedal and hold it depressed for a few seconds, then release it. Repeat that 3 or 4 times, and I think you'll find that it's bled well enough to use. The last little bubble will work itself out as you drive.

Thanks for the replies - I'm trying to think this
out before I work on it.Anyway,it's supposed to rain
for the next week,so I'm not losing any driving time.

Oh, my mistake, thought you were in a hurry. In that case, pull the slave, clean it up, and inspect the bore to make a decision. Any significant pitting or wear means buy a new one.

And as noted, either a kit or cylinder will be cheaper (but slower) by mail. At NAPA, etc, you pay a premium for them having it in stock just down the road instead of 3 states away.

I just went ahead & ordered a new cylinder.
With my luck,if I just replaced the seal, something else
would go out!
