I got my engine in, started it and ran for twenty minutes to break in the cam. Timing is set, plugs and points are new and properly adjusted, valves adjusted. When it idles it goes to 2000 then drops down to about 500 if it doesn't die it goes back up to 2000 then drops down again. It keeps doing that until it dies. I rebuilt my Weber DGV. What did I screw up?

Well, my primary idle jet was clogged with goo. blew it out and it runs great. with 4.5 miles on my new engine the clutch pedal broke at the top where it connects to the master cylinder. Fortunately I've got a parts car. Of course the nasty rusty replacement needed to be cleaned and painted. Paint is drying now, I'll be driving tomorrow.

Keep goin'! Eventually you'll get full circle, having replaced <span style="font-weight: bold">everything</span> at least once. The whole process takes around twenty-five years, BTW. :wink:


...oh! You can short-cut the time by succumbing to Shipwright's Disease and doin' a complete frame-off.
That only takes around fifteen. :devilgrin: :smirk:

i already began discussing the goo in your other thread, but was that a one time problem, or are you waiting to find out when the clutch is operable again? good to hear the engine is fine.
