Late model head light circuit

I've been having trouble turning my lights on. The running lights will come on but not the head lights. If you work the switch a few times they'll come on. This has gotten worse and worse over time. This would lead me to believe a relay is going out but I can't find one. Does it have a relay or is everything controlled through the switch? Thanks.

It is all in the switch. The plastic rocker in there gets worn. You can fix it with JB weld.

Look on Gerald's Page. There are pics of a similar Heater Switch that I took apart and cleaned. Might be different with later models but the one pictured was out of my '68 Sprite. Took apart, cleaned off the green and it was good for another 12 years.

The switch is pretty easy to take apart and clean provided the plastic does not disintegrate. Be wary of the two tiny springs and plastic nipple things in there. They are very easy to loose.

I ran relays to my lights. It was pretty easy. Cut the existing lines. Run a line back to the battery. Wire it all up into a relay holder. Let there be light.
