I have a spridget diff in my Ginetta G4 with the later carrier (no filler plug). Due to minimal clearance between the axle tube and some structural members it is impossible for me to get at the fill plug in the rear face of the tube to check the oil level and add if need be. Presently I fill the axle with lube by removing a half-shaft.
I have a spare early carrier housing which has a filler plug built into it and would like to switch my R&P (3.9) out the late carrier and into it so that I can more easily check the diff oil level and fill if need be. Aside from the presence--or not--of the cast-in boss for the oil filler plug is there any difference between the early and later differential carrier housings that would prevent me from doing this?
