Koni shocks not coming. What to do?

Ladies and Gentlemen: In June I ordered from
Blindmoosefab an install kit for rear Koni shocks for
my TR6.

That kit listed a very specific Koni 80-2167 shock to
work with their installation kit. So I went on line.
Ordered from other than the Big Three a company to remain
nameless the very specific shock by name and number.

Told four to six weeks to deliver. Agreed. PAID.
Still waiting.

Reasons/excuses, or course, have been forthcoming
Shocks were priced like nearly half what the Big Three
were charging. Also, Big Three seemed rather ignorant
re: 80-2167.

Considering canceling order and reordering from somebody
else. Worried that they might take long as well, and
could be the wrong thing to work with Blindmoose.

What has been your experience? What do you think I
should do?

Company says they'll get on it.....again.

Quick web searching reveals that 80-2167 is Koni's rear shock for Mercury Bobcat '75-'80 (maybe Ford Pinto as well, although the one site didn't say)...and also that a couple of Koni resellers don't recognize that number, although some do have front Konis for Pinto/Bobcat. Koni's own US web site shows them for $225.00 a pair direct from them....

Which theoretically might mean that other shocks for the Bobcat would work ... like the nitrogen-filled KYB's on flea-bay for $90/pair.

Well it's not a good deal if you don't have the part and they have YOUR MONEY! Give the others venders a call and see if they are in stock. If so ask for your money back and order them from a differeent vender. If they won't give you your money back then there must be some kind of state law to help you out. (Or send the Terminator). I once had to file a claim on Schumacher battery chargers through the Ohio Attorney General's Office after getting the runaround on a warranted item. In less then a month I had a new one on my front porch.

Had a similar situation with a pair of shoes with a company in NH - took my money, and no shoes. Filed a complaint with the NH Better Business Bureau and had a refund in less than a week ... this was after a couple of months trying to get my money back from the shoe company. I was desperate.

They DO fit the Pinto, but station wagon, not the torch.

I think you've got the right idea on going with Koni's or Spax(dunno what the number is) as the KYB with hard bushed and sprung suspension can get a little harsh on rough suspension. Seems they are too soft on compression and too firm on extension, so you can get a kind of "judder" on the right road surface at the right speed. I've already gone through one KYB on mine(good thing their warranteed for life.

2wrench ------------ stop waiting and guessing. Call Koni North America and ask them for availability. They can tell you if Koni has them in the US or at HQ, and if the part number is still current. I have a TR8, a part number is listed, and there is only ONE shock absorber at their HQ warehouse and the part number is discontinued.
