Hi guys - the origins of this hood frame are lost of the ages (to me anyway). Anyone recognize this frame? I'm thinking Bugeye but...

Thanks in advance.

Probably MKII... Bugeye frame splits in half. I've never tried it, but some say the MKII does not work as well.

Pretty sure it's the other way around...

Looks like a Bugeye bow to me.

Yeah, I think you're right. It's been so long since I erected one, just didn't remember correctly. :yesnod:

Looks Bugeye to me too, Tom. Bugeye frame does *not* split in 2 parts, the later frames do.

The older ones that did not split did not have the springy part that let you compress them down.
Perhaps it's an early MK2 or a late Bugeye frame.

According to Horler, the early BE frames for the 9 stud windscreens did not have the spring tensioning device. After that for the rod type windscreens, all have the tensioning device. All were one piece. The MK11 Sprite and MG MK1 had the frame split in half to fit in the boot, and it had the tensioning device.

I agree with Scott. My 1959 BE has the spring tabs and I have the rod type top/hood to connect the top to the windshield. It does not split in the middle.
The picture looks like my top frame.

Agree, same as my mid-1960 BE.
