I am finally ready for a new top. There was none on this car when I bought it, so I have nothing to compare to. Can someone tell me where they would buy their top and what the going rate is? I am especially interested in someone who has purchased recently and is happy with their top. Also, do people normally store the top and bows in the boot or do they fold it down and use a boot cover?
Any comments would greatly be appreciated.

Be sure to watch Ebay - sometimes you can get a really good deal...

Recently sold on Ebay

I found it via the search "Sprite NOS" or "AMCO NOS" both of which I have an RSS feed to my iGoogle home page.

(no, I wasn't the buyer or the seller)

I tried to find the posting regarding these guys, EZ Softtops. I believe it was just before last Christmas. But the guy that bought from EZ was very happy with their service and product. I am looking for a new top myself and I am 99% sure I will buy from EZ. I am planning on a cloth top. Not cheep, but they sure look good. The problem you may have is needing to get the bones and other stuff. I believe they only sell the cloth. I have all the hardware, so I haven't needed to search for that.

Happy hunting.

Do watch out for NOS tops and tonneaus, they may seem like a deal but in fact are not.
I put an NOS Amco top on my 67 Sprite, the next day it ripped or it ripped over night. In about a week, all the stitching sort of rotted away.
Needless to say, I had to but a new top.
I have 1/2 dozen NOS tonneau covers, none of them fit any cars anymore as they all shrunk.

Hehe! I was thinking about bidding on that one too, but I watched how the bidding was going and sat it out!! I would agree with the above comments re: EZ tops, they seem to be pretty nice and at a decent price!! My old top is not too bad and I am considering having it repaired at an boat-canvas shop!

After reading the above comments about "aged" tops I'm glad I didn't buy that one. My BE's Amco top still has clear unscratched windows and fits great but has had a very minor repair. While done professionally and such that most people wouldn't notice...I do. (sigh)
One day I guess I'll stick a crow bar in the ol wallet and buy an EZ Top myself.
On the other hand Lord knows when I'll drive it with a top on.
