Bugeye soft top

I'm getting ready to order a new soft top and decided on factory vinyl with zippered rear window from Prestige Autotrim. Pretty simple I thought. My Bugeye has the metal bar that tucks into the windscreen frame so I spec'd out what I wanted and emailed them, told them what I have to confirm I had the correct part code.
Here is what they emailed back with:
"The stock code is correct. However there were two lengths of convertible top for this type of Sprite. The most common length is 122cm (48 inches) but there is also a longer, rare 127cm (50 inches) length top.

Please measure your existing top from the horizontal centre of the rear edge to the horizontal centre of the rear seam. Then from there measure to the horizontal centre of the front edge of the top. The total length of the combined measurements should either be around 122cm or 127cm. Once you know this; you can send a follow up email after ordering to inform us of the length or you can order over the phone"

In the past when we’ve ordered tops the usual suspects only needed to know studded frame or metal bar, no one ever asked me the measure the top.
I’m going to measure it this weekend and send it off but has anyone heard of this?

I know it is more expensive, but you could order a top from LBCarco . They sell hoods from Don Trimmings. They are well made and they know the product/car well.

I forgot all about LBCaro.! On price they are not that different than Prestige Autotrim. The main reason I was considering Prestige is the zippered rear window and the 40 gauge plastic they use for the rear windows. Guys I have met out here say their windows seem to hold up better to our sun/heat. Purely anecdotal but I need a top anyway. I see LBCarco have zippered windows, I'll give them a call Monday.
