Hard Start, runs poorly when cold

Have spent many hours trying to get the 1275 BE running.

Actions taken: Carbs rebuilt by an expert, new Pertronix distrib & coil, new plugs, new manifold gasket, & new wires.

Advancing the timing to 15 degrees BTDC at 1,000 rpm allows it to run great when warm/hot.

Problem: Hard to start plus runs poorly when cold.

Question: Any recommendations so it runs better when cold? Any concerns regarding the advanced timing?

Thanks,

Is the choke functioning properly?

Take a propane torch don't light it and move it around the manifold were the gaskets meet the manifold and carb manifold and head
if it smooths out at some point manifold leak.

Did the propane torch... no change in engine speed. I do not appear to have any vacuum leaks.

Additional data... When running cold with choke on the engine idles fine but when I accelerate it sputters and runs poorly.

What weight oil are you using in the carbs? If it's too thick, the piston will not rise quickly enough when the oil is cold.

Carbs properly synched? I know when my carbs were out of sync, I had some horrendous driveability issues that would smooth out up at higher rpms and/or when the motor warmed up.

I use a special dashpot oil I bought from Moss so that should be fine.

The carbs were sync-ed up but maybe I'll inspect them again.

Thanks for the help. I'll let you know what I find.

Is it possible that the dashpts were swapped around during the rebuild?
if there is the possibility swap them around. Also could be a dashpot spring lay them next to each other and see if
they are even the same . Swap them around too

How does it start when the engine is hot?

How long are you using the choke?
If you drive the car until it really is warmed up does it run well?
These things need some choke for far longer than American cars did
