I just installed a new gas tank for my ‘73 GT6, which raised a couple of questions.
The literature seems to show the fuel outlet integral with the level sensor (Late '73 like mine only). My car has the late style tank with the 4 vent lines going to a plenum, but as far as I can tell, my car has always had the outlet at the bottom. (The new tank came with the bottom outlet fitted but plugged). Knowledgeable sources have told me that they have never seen one with the outlet in the sender. I do have a new outlet/sender which are available.
This has become a concern since since the bottom outlet is right over one side of my non-stock “sport” dual mufflers. That doesn't seem like a good idea to me. If indeed Triumph did use the sender outlet does anyone know how it was routed. (I realize a stock exhaust would solve the muffler problem but I do like the looks and sound of the sport one.)
