I'll try and keep this short. Three years ago I found a 67 Spitfire in the back of a auto mechanics garage, it had been sitting there since 1984, when the mechanic had rebuilt the engine and the owner couldn't pay for the repair. At that time(3 years ago) I asked him if he wanted to sell it, he said No. I left him my number and forgot about it. Last week he called me and said the business was closing it's doors and the city was going to demo the building in 2 days. Come and get this Spitfire for $200.00 with a title. My son and I got it home and I started some major cleaning of the engine and body. I changed the oil, added WD40 to the pistons, used the original plugs, took apart and removed 20 years of gummy fuel from the carbs with carb cleaner and put a new battery in. Tonight, with the help of a little starting fluid, this car started right up after about 40 seconds of cranking the starter. All the fluids have dried up in the car, but it runs like new. Life is good. The body is basiclly rust free, but it's going to need some restoration. I just had to tell you about this find. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/savewave.gif
