Fuel Tank Overflow

Gentlemen:

I have found that when I fill up my tank to the point that there is fuel in the filler neck that I get fuel dripping out somewhere off the top of the gas tank. Once the fuel level is reduced the dripping stops.

Is this normal? Any input?

wouldn't be at all surprised - if you look in the trunk, the filler neck just slides over the flange at the top of the tank and is tightened with a hose clamp - not likely the most secure joint on the car - or maybe it is

Tighten the clamp inside the trunk. Or maybe you don't have a clamp. If not you need one.

I overflowed my gas tank last night! LOL I was blasting Iron Maiden! I managed to tighten the gas cap but whoa the smell of gas coming from the trunk and the rest of the car was insane. I pushed the midget away from the gas pump, started her up and drove the rest of the way home rally style LOL.

You mention gas dripping off the top of the tank.
If you see it inside the boot, it is either the hose or a loose clamp.
If it is dripping from underneath the car, there is probably a hole in the tank itself. In that case, you need to pull the tank, not that difficult, and either have it repaired or replace it.
