Fuel Gauge fixed almost.

I pulled my fuel guage that was missing the needle, was dirty and without the glass and bezel. I took it out and apart and cleaned it up. Very carefully made and glued a metal "stump" for the needle to ride on and added a needle. I put on the bezel and new glass. I cleaned up all the contacts, and tested it before I put it back in the dash. It worked! I was feeling so pleased. But Lucas /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif got me again (More likely my own error). When I started the car to go out to see a fireworks display I got a mean spark at the bottom of the bezel. Shut it down. I was too ticked at the time to go searching for whatever that was. Suspect I touched something underneath when I remounted it in the dash. I took the Miata out instead.

Actually, I think that is a Smiths gauge -- only the ammeter is Lucas. Poor Joe gets blamed for everything.

Hopefully a simple correction will do it since you have already performed a small miracle with the needle.

Bummer especially considering the Triumph is far more sexy than a Miata /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

As a follow up-- Yep just somethin' simple. When I reinstalled the gauge I unknowingly allowed the little U shaped mounting bracket to barely touch one of the terminals. It was an easy fix and no apparent damage done. It's a Jaeger gauge, by the way. I can feel good again about my repair. I took it for a nice relaxed cruise through the boulevards in the area on a nice night with no problems! Now on to the next project.
