Delco Alternator Conversion

Will some walk me through the wiring of a delco alt into a system that previously had a generator. The new Alt is the typical GM 1 bolt with the 2 wire plug. I got all the mounting done but the wiring is confusing me. I have a thick brown w/ yellow stripe wire, thinner brown w/ green stripe wire, and cream w/ brown stripe wire. It's a 67 Sprite with the 1275cc. I've seen tons of different sites about how to do it and none of them are the same. Would it be better to use new wires or just splice into the existing ones?

Remove all the wires at the regulator, connect all the thick wires together.
There should be a solid brown, brown/blue stripe, and yellow/brn stripe.
Now connect the brown/grn thin wire to the yellow.grn thin wire, this is the ignition warning lamp circuit.
The black ground from the regulator is not needed.
I am not familiar with the GM alternator or if it has an ignition lamp circuit terminal but the old yellow.brn wire from the generator goes to the large battery spade on the alternator. What was the generator field (green/brn) wire should go to a small terminal somewhere on the alt.

What is the best way to connect all those 'other' wires? Before my 'while I am here, I might as well' deconstruction, I upgraded to alternator..it worked great, but I tied all those wires together with a big wire nut. It worked to test the system, but when I go to put this all back together, I don't think I like it as a long term solution..would like to hear how others have formed this connection.

I use a known bad regulator as a junction box. Cut the coil hook ups.
A & A1 are already hooked together, solder a stout wire from D to A under the box, use
F as a junction for the ign lamp, and just leave the ground wire on it.
Looks stock and you can plug the wires back on the dead regulator and nobody will ever know.
